Tell me about a time when you had to work on a team project that didn't go well.
Situation: "I was part of a group project in my science class where we were supposed to build a model."
Task: "One team member wasn't pulling their weight, which was causing delays."
Action: "I took the initiative to talk to them privately and understand why they weren't contributing. It turned out they were struggling with the concept. I offered to help them catch up"
Result: "...and we were able to finish the project on time."

Can you describe a time when you solved a problem at school?
Challenge: "During our group project on climate change, our team was struggling to come up with a creative and impactful solution. We had discussed several ideas, but none of them seemed to stand out."
Action: "To overcome this challenge, I suggested that we brainstorm individually first and then share our ideas with the group. This approach allowed everyone to contribute their unique perspectives without feeling pressured to conform to a single idea. Once we shared our individual ideas, we were able to identify common themes and build upon each other's suggestions."
Result: "By using this collaborative approach, we were able to develop a solution that was both innovative and effective. Our project received high marks from our teacher, and we learned the importance of teamwork and open-mindedness in problem-solving."
What's your greatest weakness?
Challenge: "One of my biggest challenges in high school was time management. Balancing my academics, extracurricular activities, and social life could be overwhelming. I often found myself rushing to complete assignments at the last minute, which led to stress and lower-quality work."
Action: "To address this, I implemented a daily planner to schedule my tasks and set specific time blocks for each activity. I also learned to prioritize my assignments and focus on completing the most important ones first. By being more organized and efficient with my time, I was able to improve my grades and reduce my overall stress levels."
Result: "This experience taught me the importance of effective time management and planning. I now have a better understanding of how to balance my commitments and ensure that I have enough time for everything."
How would you handle a situation where you want to make a change in your school?
Challenge: "I had a situation last year where I wanted to start a recycling program at our school. I knew it was something that would benefit our environment and the community."
Action: "First, I did some research to learn more about recycling and the benefits it could bring to our school. Then, I talked to my teachers and the principal to get their support. They were both enthusiastic about the idea and offered to help me get started. Next, I formed a team of students who were interested in helping with the recycling program. We created a plan to collect recyclables, set up recycling bins around the school, and educate our classmates about the importance of recycling."
Result: "With the support of our teachers, principal, and fellow students, we were able to successfully implement the recycling program. It was a rewarding experience and I learned a lot about leadership, teamwork, and making a positive impact on my community."
Describe a time when you were given a task that you didn't have the skills or knowledge to do.
Situation: "Last year, my science teacher assigned a group project where we had to build a robot."
Task: I'm not a tech person and I'd never built anything like that before. I felt really intimidated. But I knew that I couldn't just join a group and free ride my way to a grade.
Action: "I started by researching robots online and trying to understand the basics of how they work. I also asked my classmates for help and we formed a team with different strengths. Some people were good at electronics, while others were better at programming. We worked together to learn new skills and figure out how to build the robot."
Result: "It was challenging, but in the end, we were able to successfully build a working robot. I learned a lot about teamwork, problem-solving, and perseverance."
